President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe Aladesanmi III, on the occasion of his 80th birthday and 35th coronation anniversary, describing him as one of Nigeria’s most respected traditional rulers whose life embodies integrity, humility and dignity.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President extolled the monarch’s exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to the cultural heritage, unity and development of Ado Ekiti and Ekiti State as a whole.
President Tinubu noted that Oba Adejugbe remains a towering figure in Yorubaland and beyond, adding that the majesty of his throne is complemented by his courage, character and the deep reverence with which he is regarded by his people.
“His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe Aladesanmi III, CON, JP, is a notable traditional ruler in Yorubaland, the country and beyond.
“The majesty and significance of his throne are matched almost in equal measure by the force of his character, courage and dignified existence as well as the reverence and respect in which people hold him,” the President said.
Tinubu congratulated the royal father for attaining two major milestones, his 80th birthday and 35 years on the ancestral throne, while also expressing personal gratitude for the monarch’s support over the years.
“As Kabiyesi celebrates these milestones across five days, culminating in his 80th birthday on Sunday, November 23, 2025, I pray that Almighty God will grant him renewed grace, increased strength and more years on the throne,” the statement added.
The celebrations continue in Ado Ekiti as the revered monarch is honoured for his decades of service to his people and contributions to the preservation of Yoruba culture.
