The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure re-election in 2027, citing what he described as growing public support for the President’s leadership and economic reforms.
Yilwatda made the declaration at the flag-off of the APC presidential campaign in Kaduna State on Saturday, where he welcomed Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima to the North-West, describing the event as a defining moment in the party’s efforts to consolidate its achievements and secure a fresh mandate.
The APC chairman said the enthusiasm surrounding the campaign reflected growing confidence in the President’s leadership, particularly among women, young people and other Nigerians who believe in his vision for a stronger and more prosperous country.
“Mr President, the people have spoken, and their voice is loud and clear. Nigerians are happy. Our women are happy, our youths are happy, and the people are encouraged by your leadership,” Yilwatda said.
He described Tinubu as a courageous leader who had demonstrated the determination to take difficult but necessary decisions in the interest of the country.
The APC chairman said the party was united, prepared and confident as it presented Tinubu to Nigerians for another term, describing him as a competent and credible candidate.
He also pointed to political realignments involving the Accord Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which he said formed part of the wider political conversation surrounding the President’s leadership and the country’s future.
Yilwatda said the APC campaign would focus on the administration’s record, ongoing reforms and its vision for national development. He urged Nigerians to consider not only the challenges confronting the country but also what he described as the courage required to address longstanding structural problems and establish a foundation for sustainable prosperity.
According to him, the Tinubu administration has demonstrated the political will to confront difficult economic realities, strengthen national infrastructure and reposition Nigeria for sustainable growth.
He expressed optimism that the benefits of the reforms would become increasingly evident as implementation continued, adding that the President’s first term had laid the foundation for a second-term administration to pursue a more prosperous, secure and inclusive Nigeria.
“The task before us is to consolidate the gains, deepen the reforms and ensure that the promise of Renewed Hope translates into greater opportunities, improved livelihoods and shared prosperity for our people,” he said.
“We believe that the President deserves the opportunity to complete this work and take Nigeria to the next level.”
At the campaign flag-off, Yilwatda also presented APC flags to governors from the North-West seeking re-election, expressing the party’s confidence in its state leadership and its determination to strengthen its political position across the region.
The governors listed in the statement were Uba Sani of Kaduna State, Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State, Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State.
The APC chairman urged the governors to sustain their engagement with the electorate, strengthen party unity and mobilise support for Tinubu and other party candidates ahead of the 2027 general election.
He described the North-West as strategically important to the party’s national electoral prospects, stressing that success would require sustained grassroots mobilisation, effective communication of government policies and achievements, and cooperation among party leaders at all levels.
Yilwatda also called on APC members, elected officials, stakeholders and supporters across the seven states to work collectively towards the party’s electoral success, emphasising that unity, discipline and a shared sense of purpose would be crucial.
He commended the Kaduna State Government under Governor Uba Sani, alongside the party leadership, campaign organisers and supporters, for their contributions to the commencement of the presidential campaign.
Describing Kaduna as a strategic location for the campaign’s opening, Yilwatda said the North-West’s electoral importance made the region central to the party’s nationwide mobilisation efforts.
He urged party members to conduct their campaigns through issue-based engagement and respect for democratic principles, ensuring that the administration’s policies, achievements and future commitments were clearly communicated to Nigerians.
“The journey to 2027 has begun, and the APC is ready. We have a President with the courage to lead, a party with the capacity to mobilise and a vision centred on the prosperity of our people.
“Together, we will build on our achievements, confront our challenges and work towards a stronger Nigeria,” Yilwatda said.
