By Our Reporter

The passing of Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti at the remarkable age of 100 marks the end of a glorious chapter in Nigeria’s history, according to Bisi Ajiboye-Sogigun, Vice Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Ondo State Chapter.

Ajiboye-Sogigun said although the revered elder statesman had completed his earthly journey, his legacy of wisdom, courage, patriotism, education and principled leadership would continue to inspire generations.

He described Fasoranti as more than a teacher, politician, author, educationist, mentor and father figure, saying he was a symbol of integrity, a custodian of democratic values and a leader whose life demonstrated that true greatness was measured by positive contributions to society rather than the positions one occupied.

According to him, Fasoranti’s life reflected the enduring importance of education, conviction and responsible leadership. As an educationist, he understood the transformative power of knowledge; as a politician, he stood firmly by his convictions; and as an elder statesman, his counsel drew from decades of experience in Nigeria’s political and national life.

Recalling his personal encounter with the late Afenifere leader, Ajiboye-Sogigun said he would forever cherish the privilege of meeting him through the intervention of Basorun Seinde Arogbofa.

He said the encounter left an indelible impression on him, as Fasoranti offered him words of encouragement, wise counsel and invaluable advice before praying for him.

He described the prayer as more than a closing gesture, saying it was a precious moment of connection with a man whose life embodied experience, service and sacrifice.

He noted that the elder statesman’s encouragement strengthened his spirit, while his advice reinforced the importance of humility, perseverance and commitment to worthy causes.

Reflecting on the encounter, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to receive his fatherly blessings, noting that although his physical departure had created a painful vacuum, the values he represented remained a guide for those working towards a better Nigeria.

Ajiboye-Sogigun said Fasoranti’s life transcended political affiliations, ethnic boundaries and generations, adding that his century-long journey offered enduring lessons on leadership, knowledge and integrity.

“His life teaches us that leadership is service, knowledge is a responsibility, and integrity is a priceless inheritance,” he said.

He added that the late elder statesman’s legacy extended beyond the memories of his long and eventful life, serving as a reminder that public service required sacrifice, consistency and an unwavering commitment to the common good.

While mourning his death, the ANA Ondo State Chapter vice chairman said Nigerians should also celebrate a century of the elder statesman’s impact, sacrifice and service to humanity.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and expressed the hope that his exemplary life would continue to illuminate the path of generations to come.
