As Ondo State gears up for the Local Government elections tomorrow, the state’s Police Command has assured the public of its comprehensive readiness to maintain law and order.

Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, made this declaration during a press briefing held at the Police Command headquarters in Alagbaka, Akure, on Friday.

Addressing journalists, CP Afolabi revealed that all personnel of the Command had been strategically deployed across the state to guarantee a seamless electoral process.

He emphasised that the police are fully prepared to ensure a peaceful environment where voters can exercise their franchise without fear or intimidation.

“Our officers and men are on the ground and have been adequately briefed on their roles and responsibilities. We are leaving no stone unturned to ensure a trouble-free election tomorrow,” Afolabi stated.

The Commissioner of Police also called on the electorate to come out in large numbers to participate in the democratic process.

He reassured the public that adequate security measures had been put in place to protect lives and property during and after the elections.

In a stern warning to potential troublemakers, CP Afolabi stated, “Let me be clear: anyone planning to disrupt the voting process or engage in any form of violence will face the full wrath of the law. We will not tolerate any act that jeopardises the peace and integrity of the election.”
