Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has vowed to support a 14-year-old girl with disabilities who was allegedly raped by her neighbours, ensuring justice is served and providing necessary assistance through the court process, rehabilitation, and medical support.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Needs, Mr. Kamil Aransi, made this known at a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Osogbo, describing rape and sexual harassment as crimes against humanity.
Aransi stated that the Osun State Government will not tolerate any form of sexual harassment or rape, especially against citizens with special needs.
He personally intervened in the case, supporting the victim and her family, and ensuring the police prosecuted the matter.
Two out of the three suspects have been apprehended, and the case has been adjourned until September 26, 2024.
The Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Osun State has taken over the case, and the Chief State Counsel has been assigned to ensure justice is served.
The Governor’s commitment to supporting the victim and ensuring justice is a reassuring step towards protecting vulnerable members of society.
