In a surprise move, Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has dissolved the State Executive Council with immediate effect.
This decision was made public in a press statement released on Wednesday, by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan.
According to the statement, the Governor has exempted two key members of the cabinet from the dissolution due to the critical nature of their duties.
Dr Kayode Ajulo, SAN, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, and Mrs Omowunmi Isaac, the Commissioner for Finance, will retain their positions.
The affected cabinet members are expected to hand over all government properties in their care to the accounting officers of their respective ministries.
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his gratitude to the EXCO members for their service and contributions to the development of Ondo State under his administration.
In a related development, Governor Aiyedatiwa had earlier explained that the dissolution of the State Executive Council was necessary to rejuvenate and reinvigorate his administration.
He stated that the move was in response to the yearnings and aspirations of the people, and to minimize distractions associated with cabinet members in an election year.
