President Bola Tinubu has nominated Saseyi Feyijimi Ibiyemi, a 58-year-old lawyer from Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, as Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) representing Ondo State.
This nomination was made public through a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy on Monday night.
Ibiyemi, currently serving as the Administrative Secretary of INEC in Lagos State, boasts an impressive educational background.
She graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University in 1987 and was called to the bar in 1988.
Additionally, she holds a Master’s degree in Election Management from Bingham University in Nasarawa State.
It’s worth noting that Ibiyemi’s nomination seeks to fill the vacancy left by ‘Niyi Ijalaye, a lawyer who passed away in August while serving as Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ogun State.
If cleared by the Senate, Ibiyemi will take on this critical role.
In another development, President Tinubu has also nominated Abdulrazak Yusuf Tukur as a National Commissioner for INEC, representing the North West.
Tukur brings extensive experience to the table, having begun his career at INEC in 1999 and risen through the ranks to become Director of Electoral Operations and Logistics.
