Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa met with Christian leaders at St. David’s Anglican Cathedral in Akure on Monday, seeking prayers for a peaceful election.

He emphasised his administration’s commitment to serving the people, grounded in Christian values.

Aiyedatiwa, a Christian by faith, acknowledged the spiritual responsibilities of leadership and asked for continued prayers for wisdom and a smooth electoral process.

Reverend Anselm Ologunwa, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Ondo State, praised the governor’s prompt attention to Christian concerns and reaffirmed CAN’s non-partisan stance.

Ologunwa highlighted the importance of promoting Christian values, advocating for peace and harmony, and prioritizing economic development and job opportunities.

In response to the governor’s request, the Christian community has scheduled three days of intensive prayer, starting November 10, to seek divine guidance and peace for Ondo State.

They also reiterated their plea for the return of schools founded by Christians to their original owners, citing the benefits of restoring strong moral and academic foundations.

The meeting concluded with heartfelt prayers for the governor, seeking a free and fair electoral process and overall peace in the state, ahead of the November 16 gubernatorial election.
