Ondo State Governor, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has renamed the International Centre for Culture and Events, popularly known as The Dome, in Akure, after former Governor Olusegun Mimiko.

The facility will henceforth be known as the Dr Olusegun Mimiko International Centre for Culture and Events.

Aiyedatiwa announced the renaming on Saturday during a birthday celebration organised in honour of the former governor in Abuja.

Mimiko governed Ondo State between 2009 and 2017 and constructed the facility during his administration.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Saturday, by Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Chief Press Secretary to the Ondo State Governor.

The renaming recognises Mimiko’s contribution to the development of the state, particularly the establishment of the cultural and events facility in Akure.

The Dome has served as a venue for cultural activities, public gatherings and other events in Ondo State.
