The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, failed to secure victory at his polling unit and three other units in his ward for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, during Saturday’s election.
Despite being a prominent leader in Ondo East Local Government, Oladiji was surprisingly defeated by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In his polling unit at Sasẹrẹ, Ward 9, both APC and PDP secured 18 votes each.
However, in three other polling units within the ward, PDP emerged victorious:

Owena Community Hall
APC: 31 votes
PDP: 36 votes
Lafiaji/Onipetesi
APC: 38 votes
PDP: 77 votes
Meanwhile, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the APC is maintaining a significant lead across the 15 local governments declared so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The State Collation Officer, Prof. Olayemi Akinwunmi, announced a recess and stated that collation of results from the remaining five local government areas would resume at 12 noon on Sunday.
The delay is to allow for the arrival of outstanding results.
