Ondo at 49: Governor Aiyedatiwa hails progress, promises brighter future

Ondo State is making steady progress towards all-round development and prosperity, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has assured, as the state marks its 49th anniversary.

In a heartfelt message to the people of Ondo State signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Governor Aiyedatiwa paid tribute to the founding fathers for their courage and foresight in shaping the Sunshine State.

Created on February 3, 1976 by the military administration of General Murtala Muhammed, Ondo State has since witnessed the leadership of 19 governors, 12 military and seven civilian including Aiyedatiwa, who assumed office on December 27, 2023.

Reflecting on the State’s journey, the Governor praised the significant strides made in sustainable development and inclusive growth while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to building on the legacies of past leaders.

He called on residents to continue supporting his government as it steers the state towards greater progress.

“As we celebrate this milestone, we must acknowledge our collective achievements and renew our dedication to a future of prosperity,” he said.

Looking ahead to Ondo State’s 50th anniversary in 2026, Governor Aiyedatiwa announced plans to set up a committee to outline the modalities for a befitting Golden Jubilee celebration.
