Mr Banji Ajaka, the Ondo state Commissioner for Health, was on Saturday assaulted by some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), at Ugbo Ward 3, Ilaje local government area, for allegedly hiding result sheet.
The Commissioner was said to have been beaten mercilessly by the angry members of his party in the ward after they allegedly demanded for the result sheet from electoral officers, who in turn fingered him as holding it.
An eye witness account revealed that: “Hon Ajaka, the Commissioner for Health received general beating in his home town as his name was mentioned by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officers, who alleged him and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s camp of compromising the system by removing the reporting sheet from the materials given to them.
“The ward, flooded by the supporters of Chief Olusola Oke, one of the aspirants in the election who hails from Ugbo town like Ajaka, became charged because of the development. People were seriously angry with the ugly situation as they all believed that it is time for Olusola Oke to govern the state.”
Confirming the incident, Ajaka said his attackers pounced on him because they alleged that he was withholding the result sheet.
He explained that the situation was very terrible, as they descended on him while he was trying to explain.
