Washington Oluwagbenga Akinadewo, the son of the Publisher of Freedom Online newspaper, Mr Gabriel Akinadewo, has died at the age of 21.

Washington passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at a private hospital in Lagos after a brief illness.

His death has thrown his family, friends and associates into deep mourning.

Born on October 3, 2004, the young Akinadewo had only recently completed his university education at a private university in Lagos, where he studied Information Technology.

He was preparing to begin his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) one-year programme in January 2026, a major milestone he was eagerly looking forward to, before his life was cut short.

Described by those who knew him as gentle, easy-going and deeply committed to his faith, Washington was an active member of Motailatu Church of God Worldwide, where he served devotedly in the church choir.

Family members said he was a loving son and brother whose humility, calm disposition and dedication to God endeared him to many.

His sudden passing has left an immeasurable void in the lives of his parents, siblings, members of the Akinadewo family, the Motailatu Church of God Worldwide, and his wide circle of friends and associates.

Washington Akinadewo has since been buried, even as tributes continue to pour in for a young life remembered for promise, faith and quiet strength.
