Ondo State Police Command has arrested four additional suspects in connection with a motorcycle theft syndicate and recovered one TVS motorcycle, further expanding an earlier breakthrough recorded by the Command.
The latest arrests follow a press release issued on December 22, 2025, in which the police announced the interception of a motorcycle theft gang and the recovery of two stolen motorcycles.
According to the Command, sustained intelligence-led operations led to the arrest of the fleeing suspects in neighbouring Edo State.
The suspects, identified as Onyeka, Ekene, Sunday and Abubakar, are all males.
Police sources disclosed that the suspects, upon interrogation, confessed to the roles they played in the theft operation.
They are currently in custody and will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations.
Commending the operatives for what he described as a professional, swift and decisive operation, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Adebowale Lawal, said the arrests reflected the Command’s strengthened capacity for effective crime fighting and intervention.
The police commissioner reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, stressing that the police would continue to be proactive rather than merely reactive in tackling crime.
He warned criminal elements to desist, noting that the Command would track offenders wherever they operate and ensure they are brought to justice.
CP Lawal also directed all Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders across the state to remain fully alert and proactive in their duties to guarantee robust security coverage in all areas.
