Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved the declaration of Monday, February 2, and Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as public holidays across the state to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the state’s creation.

The announcement, contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, said the holidays were declared to enable residents to fully participate in activities lined up to mark the golden jubilee of the state.

According to the statement, the 50th anniversary celebration represents a historic milestone, marking five decades of growth, resilience and collective progress since the creation of Ondo State.

Governor Aiyedatiwa urged citizens to take advantage of the holidays to join in the celebrations, reflect on the journey of the state so far and renew their commitment to the shared vision of building a more prosperous, peaceful and united Ondo State.

The governor, however, directed providers of essential services to make adequate arrangements to ensure that critical services remain uninterrupted during the period of the public holidays.
