Ondo State Government has confirmed that the October edition of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise will take place across the state on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

However, authorities have reversed the earlier directive on movement restrictions.

Residents will be allowed free movement during the exercise, which is scheduled to hold between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

The exemption was granted in consideration of the convocation ceremony of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, which is being held for the first time in 13 years and coincides with the sanitation day.

A statement issued by the Acting General Manager of the Ondo State Waste Management Authority, Mr Olajumbu Adekunle, urged residents to still make good use of the sanitation period by cleaning their surroundings.

He advised the clearing of drainages, desilting of gutters, removal of refuse and the trimming of overgrown weeds.

The government reiterated its commitment to sustaining a clean, healthy and disease-free environment, while calling for continued cooperation and active participation from members of the public.

The statement was electronically signed by the Commissioner for Environment, Dr Tob Loko.
