A medical worker identified as Pastor Ayodeji Akesinro has been abducted by gunmen at his residence in Upenme, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The victim, a staff member of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo, was reportedly seized around 7:00 p.m. yesterday, while inside his home.
Confirming the incident, a senior labour leader of the Nigeria Union of Allied Health Professionals (NUAHP) at the hospital, who requested anonymity, disclosed that the matter had been reported to security operatives.
In a message circulated on the NUAHP WhatsApp platform, the union described the abduction as “distressing” and urged members to prepare for a possible day of protest in Owo to press for the immediate and safe release of their colleague.
The statement demanded heightened security measures in Owo and its environs, particularly for health workers who, it noted, had become frequent targets of abduction.
It further called for collaboration with security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice.
The message ended with a rallying cry of solidarity, declaring: “Injury to one is injury to all. Solidarity forever!”
