The family of Mr Herbert Olajide Akadiri, a former Director of Information Services in the Ondo State Ministry of Information and Orientation, has announced his passing after a brief illness.
Mr Akadiri, a respected retired civil servant and one of the pioneering officers of the Ondo State Ministry of Information and Orientation, died on June 3, 2026.
In a statement issued in Akure by the Akadiri family, the late information administrator was described as an accomplished public servant whose career was marked by professionalism, integrity and an unwavering commitment to public communication and information management.
The family said the deceased devoted several decades of his life to the service of Ondo State and played a pivotal role in laying the foundation for the state’s information sector, particularly during the formative years of the Ministry of Information and Orientation.
According to the statement, Akadiri distinguished himself through diligence, competence and dedication to duty throughout his years in public service, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues, government officials and stakeholders within and outside the ministry.
Until his retirement in December 2010 as Director of Information Services, he remained one of the most respected officers in the Ondo State Public Service, renowned for his humility, leadership qualities and commitment to excellence.
The family noted that as a member of the first generation of personnel in the ministry, Akadiri made invaluable contributions to its institutional growth, operational effectiveness and overall development, helping to shape the state’s information management framework.
“His years in public service were characterised by commitment, professionalism and an enduring passion for excellence. He devoted a substantial part of his life to the development of the ministry and the Ondo State Public Service, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication that will continue to inspire future generations,” the statement read.
The family expressed gratitude to God for what it described as an accomplished and impactful life and appreciated friends, former colleagues, associates and well-wishers for their prayers, sympathy and support during the period of mourning.
It also disclosed that consultations on burial arrangements are ongoing, adding that details of the funeral programme would be announced at a later date.
The late Akadiri is survived by family members and is remembered as a devoted family man, mentor, consummate professional and distinguished public servant whose contributions to public administration and the information sector in Ondo State remain enduring.
