APC denies allegations of sending thugs to Idanre

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has refuted claims by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that it sent thugs to disrupt the governorship election in Ofosu, Idanre Local Government Area.

Speaking from the APC situation room, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Steve Otaloro, described the allegations as baseless and politically motivated.

“There is nothing like that,” Otaloro said, responding to comments made by PDP’s deputy governorship candidate, Hon. Festus Akingbaso.

“The places he mentioned, was he present there? He should focus on his polling unit. Even if he received reports, due diligence would require proper investigation,” he noted.

Otaloro further emphasised that voting in Idanre and other areas had been peaceful.

“If there’s any violence, it’s not from our members. All our party members are voting as responsible electorates, and we’ve ensured they adhere to peace throughout this election process,” he stated.

The APC spokesperson also questioned the feasibility of infiltrating rural and isolated areas, like farm settlements, as alleged by the PDP.

According to him: “Why would our members infiltrate such places? It makes no sense. Often, when such allegations arise, it’s because their plans have failed. Since morning, the election has been peaceful, and we expect it to end that way.”

Otaloro reiterated the APC’s commitment to a peaceful election and called on all parties to focus on maintaining order and allowing the process to conclude smoothly.
