Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved the appointment of Chief Segun Odusanya as the new Head of Service of Ondo State.

The appointment follows the retirement of the outgoing Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philips, who has reached the statutory retirement age after decades of service in the state public service.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed appreciation to Mr. Philips for his dedication and contributions to the growth and development of the state during his tenure.

The governor wished the retired civil servant success in his future endeavours and urged the new Head of Service to deploy his extensive experience toward strengthening the public service and advancing the administration’s development agenda.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa urged the new Head of Service to bring his wealth of experience to bear on the service towards driving the OUR EASE administration to the desired destination,” the statement said.

Chief Odusanya, a seasoned administrator and career civil servant, was born on February 6, 1967, into the family of the late Venerable Emmanuel Odusanya and Mrs. Emmanuel Odusanya.

He began his educational journey at St. Peter’s Primary School, Ile-Oluji, before proceeding to Gboluji Anglican Grammar School, where he completed his secondary education in 1983.

He later attended Obafemi Awolowo University, then known as the University of Ife, where he obtained a Bachelor of Agriculture degree in 1989. He subsequently earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies from the same institution in 1992.

Driven by a passion for continuous learning and professional development, Odusanya proceeded to the University of Ado-Ekiti, where he obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in 2000.

The new Head of Service joined the Ondo State Public Service in September 1995 and has built an impressive career spanning more than three decades in public administration.

Since his appointment as Permanent Secretary in 2019, he has served in several strategic ministries and agencies, including the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Ondo State Civil Service Commission, the Ministry of Transport, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, where he currently serves.

He is also the Chairman of the Forum of Permanent Secretaries in Ondo State, a position through which he has played a key role in policy coordination and administrative leadership within the state bureaucracy.

Chief Odusanya is a member of several professional bodies and holds fellowships of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (FCIPM), the Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria (FCIPAN), and the Chartered Institute of Local Government Administration (FCLA).
