Aiyedatiwa inaugurates Obas’ Secretariat, strengthens ties with traditional rulers

Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the traditional institution, describing it as a fundamental pillar of governance, peace, and development.

Speaking at the commissioning of the new Secretariat of the Ondo State Council of Obas in Akure on Thursday, the Governor emphasised that the edifice symbolises the government’s deep respect for royal fathers and their crucial role in ensuring societal harmony.

Congratulating Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi Ogunlade, Odundun II, the Deji of Akure Kingdom and Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas, for his leadership in facilitating the project’s completion, Governor Aiyedatiwa commended the state’s traditional rulers for their wisdom and contributions to peace and development.

He described the Secretariat as a hub for administrative excellence, consultations, and deliberations that would positively shape the future of the state.

Assuring the people of his government’s unwavering support for the traditional institution, he pledged to continue strengthening it while delivering good governance.

In response, Oba Aladelusi praised the Governor for his dedication to the welfare of monarchs, highlighting his approval of a 5% allocation of the monthly allowance to royal fathers as a testament to his commitment to preserving traditional values.

He noted that the new Secretariat would enhance coordination among the state’s Obas, allowing them to play a more active role in governance and community development.

Engr. Olawoye Ayorinde Abiola, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing, expressed gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa for ensuring the project’s completion after two decades of abandonment.

Similarly, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye, hailed the Governor as a visionary leader who values the traditional institution, describing him as “our man” and a servant leader deeply committed to the welfare of Ondo State’s people.
