From John Dike, Osogbo
Reverend Father Festus Komolafe, Catholic Administrator of the Osogbo Diocese, has urged married couples to shun divorce, emphasising that it’s unacceptable to God.
During a Holy Mass at St. Benedict Catholic Cathedral, Father Komolafe stressed that the Catholic Church does not support divorce.
He cited biblical teachings, including the Ten Commandments and Jesus’ disapproval of divorce to drive home his points.
He said: “God instituted Holy Matrimony for procreation and unity in love between a man and woman.”
“Marriage is ordained by God, and couples should seek reconciliation and God’s guidance when faced with challenges.”
Father Komolafe who attributed societal problems, including hoodlums and thugs, to broken marriages, advised Christian couples to live in peace and love, and young people to seek God’s guidance before marriage.
“Understand yourself, embrace God, and love with biblical understanding. Divorce is not biblical; it’s a result of stubbornness and unteachability,” he stressed.
