Ita-Nla and Lipakala areas were the most severely affected, with numerous vehicles, motorcycles, shops, and valuables submerged by the flood. Fortunately, as at the time of filing this report, no lives were lost in the incident.

A local resident attributed the flooding to clogged drainage channels, which hindered the free flow of water during the heavy rain.

“The rain caused havoc; properties were submerged, and commuters left stranded. Almost all roads were impassable,” he said.

The resident emphasized the need for government intervention, noting that shop owners were severely impacted, losing goods to the flood.

According to him: “Residents, especially shop owners, were badly affected. We thank God nobody was swept away or died.”

The incident highlights the need for improved drainage infrastructure in Ondo City to prevent future flooding and mitigate impact on residents and businesses.
