President Bola Tinubu was warmly received by His Majesty King Charles III at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday for a private meeting, highlighting the strong and enduring relationship between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

This meeting marks the second time the two leaders have met, following their initial encounter at the COP 28 Climate Summit in Dubai last year.

They explored opportunities for collaboration ahead of the upcoming COP 29 Summit in Azerbaijan and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa.

During the meeting, President Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to addressing climate change while ensuring energy security and adopting global sustainability strategies.

The two leaders also exchanged ideas on innovative approaches to climate financing and funding, expressing mutual interest in strengthening partnerships through Nigeria’s leadership position in Africa and the Commonwealth.

The meeting demonstrates the strong bilateral ties between Nigeria and the UK, with a shared commitment to addressing global challenges and promoting sustainable development.
