President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Saturday, addressed the 2024 Civil Service Award and Gala Night, commending the Head of Service for exposing fraudulent workers who drew salaries without formally resigning.

The President, who was represented by the Secretary to The Government of The Federation, Senator George Akume, emphasized the importance of punishing those involved and their supervisors.

Tinubu, however, acknowledged the civil service as the backbone of government, essential for delivering public goods.

He expressed support for building human capital, professionalism, and confidence in civil servants.

He disclosed that his administration has implemented reforms, including a civil service commission and permanent secretaries in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The President further urged fast-tracking reforms and recognizing the critical role civil servants play in achieving the nation’s full potential.

Awards were presented to officers who demonstrated integrity, efficiency, and dedication during the ceremony.

Tinubu congratulated the awardees and encouraged them to continue their excellent work.

He blessed the Nigerian Civil Service and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
