The Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Prof. Tomola Obamuyi, has appealed to traditional rulers, local government authorities and other stakeholders in Akoko land to support the institution’s infrastructure development drive.
Prof. Obamuyi made the appeal during inaugural visits to the palaces of the Ajana of Okeagbe, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Mofolorunso Adegboyega Samuel Arasanyin, Aroke Agba I, and the Owa-Ale Adimula of Ikare-Akoko, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeleke Adefemi Adegbite Adedoyin II, as well as the Secretariat of Akoko North-West Local Government Area in Okeagbe Akoko on Thursday.
The Vice Chancellor, accompanied by members of the university management, said the visits formed part of efforts to strengthen the institution’s relationship with key stakeholders, foster sustainable partnerships and accelerate infrastructure development.
He explained that the engagements were aimed at introducing the new university administration to influential leaders in the host communities while exploring avenues for collaboration that would support the continued growth and development of the institution.
According to him, AAUA remains committed to building enduring relationships with government authorities, traditional institutions and other stakeholders whose support would be crucial in addressing the university’s infrastructure needs and advancing its development agenda.
Prof. Obamuyi specifically appealed to the stakeholders to establish lasting legacies within the institution by sponsoring landmark buildings and other projects that would bear their names or those of their communities.
He also urged the traditional rulers to mobilise their sons and daughters, as well as other well-meaning indigenes, to invest in the university through the construction of buildings and other developmental projects.
At the Akoko North-West Local Government Secretariat, the Vice Chancellor and his team were received by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Musa Olasehinde, who represented the Chairman of the Council, Hon. Esan Owolabi.
Responding, Olasehinde assured the university of the council’s support and pledged that the local government would make its graders available to assist the institution as requested.
At the palace of the Ajana of Okeagbe, Oba Arasanyin commended Prof. Obamuyi for reaching out to traditional institutions at the beginning of his administration, describing the visit as a commendable initiative.
The monarch assured the Vice Chancellor of the community’s continued support and pledged that Okeagbe would contribute meaningfully to the university’s growth and development.
Similarly, the Owa-Ale Adimula of Ikare-Akoko, Oba Adedoyin II, reaffirmed Ikare-Akoko’s commitment to the institution, describing AAUA as a collective heritage deserving the support of all host communities.
He assured the university management that sons and daughters of Ikare-Akoko would continue to support the institution, particularly through the sponsorship and construction of legacy infrastructure projects.
