Osun State Amotekun Corps has arrested four ex-convicts for various offenses, including stealing, motorcycle theft, and other criminal activities.
The suspects – Musbau Saheed Ganiyu, 28, Awal Adebayo, 18, and Ilerioluwa Nurudeen, 25 – were apprehended at different locations following credible intelligence from Amotekun command.
According to Dr. Adekunle Omoleye, State Commander of Osun Amotekun, the arrests mark a significant breakthrough in combating crime and criminality in the state.
The suspects were part of a notorious gang involved in shop breaking, phone snatching, POS terminal attacks, burglary, and stealing.
Musbau Saheed Ganiyu, the ring leader, was arrested on September 30, 2024, after attempting to steal from a POS terminal operator in Erin-Osun area.
He had hired a motorcycle to survey targeted shops before the operation and used a shop in Iwo to conceal his identity and pose as a “yahoo boy”.
Other suspects arrested include Afeez Ayuba, 27, the gang’s motorcycle rider; Olalekan Mashood, who specializes in stealing goats; and Kayode Odesanmi, 38, a fraudster who posed as a court official to dupe victims.
Dr. Omoleye reassured the public that his leadership would minimise crime, optimize resources, and collaborate with other security agencies to maintain peace and order during the ember months in Osun State.
