The Ondo State Government, under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is set to introduce a digital payment platform to streamline tax collection and other government-related payments, marking a significant step towards enhancing ease of doing business in the state.
The initiative follows a partnership between the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service and a consulting firm.
Speaking after a demonstration of the platform at the Governor’s Office in Akure on Monday, Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to modernising revenue collection through innovation.

He emphasised that the new system would simplify tax payments, curb revenue leakages, and improve compliance, ultimately increasing the state’s financial capacity to invest in infrastructure such as roads, healthcare, education, and other essential public services.
The Governor urged business owners and residents to embrace the platform, assuring them of its security, efficiency, and long-term benefits for economic growth.
He revealed that the digital system will provide each taxpayer with a unique ID linked to their personal profile, ensuring confidential and streamlined transactions.
Aiyedatiwa noted that taxpayers will have multiple payment options, including card payments, bank transfers, USSD codes, and in-person transactions at designated banks.

During the live demonstration, the Governor became the first registered taxpayer, showcasing how users can generate and pay their tax bills seamlessly while receiving instant receipts with unique verification codes.
He stated that beyond tax payments, the platform will serve as a one-stop payment hub, covering sectors such as commerce, land and housing, billboard advertising, healthcare, natural resources, and education fees.
Director of the firm, Maryam Abisola, highlighted that the platform would eliminate the inefficiencies of manual payments, ensuring a user-friendly and transparent system for the government and taxpayers alike.

The demonstration event was attended by key government officials, including Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taye Fasoranti; Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Omowumi Isaac; Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, SAN; and Chairman of the Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Bayo Rojugbokan.
