The Ondo State Police Command has rescued two suspected victims of abduction following an armed attack at the Eleyewo area of Akure, the state capital, while an intensive manhunt has been launched for the perpetrators and efforts intensified to locate two other victims.

The incident occurred last Friday, when four men identified as Adesola Emiloye, 45; Jimoh Akinlolu, 35; Ebenezer Oloro, 43; and another person whose identity has yet to be confirmed, were reportedly ambushed by two armed men while working at a site in the area.

It was gathered that a distress call received at the Police Command Control Room prompted the immediate deployment of tactical teams to the scene.

Nigerian Monitor gathered that police operatives successfully rescued two of the victims and recovered their motorcycles during the operation, while the remaining two reportedly escaped into the surrounding bush.

However, security operatives are continuing coordinated search operations to locate and rescue the remaining victims and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Reaffirming the Command’s resolve, the Ondo State Police declared that the state would not serve as a safe haven for criminal elements, stressing that offenders would always be identified, tracked and brought to justice.

The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, commended the swift and decisive response of the operatives, describing their actions as professional and reflective of the Command’s improved operational capacity for timely intervention.

The Police boss also praised the strong inter-agency collaboration between the Police and the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, noting that the synergy has significantly enhanced crime prevention and public safety across the state.

The Command further appreciated residents for their timely reports and cooperation, urging members of the public to continue providing credible and actionable information to support ongoing efforts to combat crime and criminality in Ondo State.
