Ondo election: General Musa lauds troops’ readiness, seeks neutrality

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, on Thursday visited the 32 Artillery Brigade in Akure to assess troops’ readiness for the upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State.

During the visit, the Army Chief commended the personnel for maintaining peace and stability, emphasising unity among security forces.

With elections nearing, General Musa urged troops to remain professional, impartial, and vigilant, highlighting security agencies’ crucial role in ensuring a free and fair election.

General Musa stressed collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the police to prevent disruptions by criminal elements.

According tohim: “Once we work together, criminals cannot penetrate. Everybody is important. This is our country, and we each have a role to play.”

He also emphasised efficient communication and oversight, particularly over troops on the ground.

He used the opportunity to convey President Bola Tinubu’s message to the military men and women, emphasizing the need for a peaceful and well-coordinated election process.

General Musa concluded with an appeal for professionalism, reminding troops that maintaining peace is essential to upholding their reputation and commitment.

He encouraged everyone to remain calm, fair, and focused to ensure the electoral process’ integrity.
