All might not have been heard from the just concluded governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ondo State.
Sign of a deepened crisis in the party became pronounced at the weekend, as One of the aspirants, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim (Ondo South), approached a Federal High Court in Abuja to nullify the primary that produced Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the flagbearer of the party in the November 16 gubernatorial election in the state.
Aside Aiyedatiwa, other aspirants, during a meeting in Abuja, told the National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, that there was no election at all and the exercise should be cancelled.
Before approaching the court, Ibrahim had submitted “tonnes of documents with overwhelming evidence” to APC Headquarters in Abuja, citing irregularities during the primary and calling for outright cancellation of the exercise.
Ibrahim has hired three Seniors Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) and five other lawyers against the party, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Governor Aiyedatiwa.
The court is yet to fix a date for hearing.
