In Idanre, at polling unit 011 located at Oke Lisa/Oke-Agunla/Open Space Beside Lisa Camp, Alade Atosin, the electoral process began as scheduled.
INEC officers arrived before 8 a.m., and by a few minutes past 8 a.m., voters were already on the queue, undergoing accreditation.
The turnout was encouraging, with citizens eager to exercise their franchise.
At Ojajigbokin unit 005, voters appeared in large numbers, showcasing a strong sense of civic duty.
Among the crowd were two elderly People Living With Disabilities (PWDs), Pa Victor Ogunlola (84) and Pa Olafisayo Akintelure (82), patiently waiting their turn to vote.
Meanwhile, Hon. Festus Akingbaso, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the PDP, cast his vote at unit 008, Oke Imikan, Alade.
Speaking to journalists afterward, Akingbaso commended INEC for a relatively smooth process and noted the security situation was manageable.
He encouraged voters to remain vigilant and stay at polling units until results were announced.
However, Akingbaso raised concerns about the alleged influx of party thugs in various villages in Idanre, accusing the APC of orchestrating their presence.
He highlighted incidents in villages like Ofosu, Omifunfun, and Ala, where thugs reportedly intimidated voters and disrupted the process.
At Ofosu, for instance, a party member’s house was allegedly broken into to prevent them from voting.
Akingbaso stated that despite reporting the matter to the DPO and DSS, no substantial action had been taken by security agencies.
While the voting process in some parts of Idanre appeared orderly, the alleged security threats loomed large, casting a shadow over the otherwise peaceful atmosphere.
