The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reiterated her commitment to empowering women and ensuring their active inclusion in leadership roles across the nation. She made this assertion during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the Directorate of State Security (DSS), led by Deputy Director-General Mrs. Afolashade Adekayaoja, at the State House Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Speaking during the visit, Senator Tinubu expressed her gratitude to the delegation and commended the DSS for promoting gender balance within its ranks. She highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s unwavering resolve to prioritise women’s empowerment, emphasising the need for greater female representation in decision-making processes at all levels of governance. According to her, recognising and rewarding the contributions of hardworking women is crucial, as their leadership serves as a beacon of inspiration for women across the country.
The First Lady called on women in leadership positions to support one another and collaborate effectively to achieve national progress. She noted that their diligence and unity were critical to ensuring that women continue to make strides in governance and other sectors, saying, “Leadership positions held by women are not just for the individuals but represent the aspirations of millions of women across Nigeria.”
In her response, Mrs. Afolashade Adekayaoja thanked President Tinubu and the First Lady for their unwavering support of women’s advancement in the nation. She commended the administration’s ongoing efforts to place women in critical leadership roles, noting that such measures have paved the way for significant contributions to national governance.
Mrs. Adekayaoja also lauded the First Lady for her steadfast advocacy for gender equality, describing her efforts as a cornerstone of progress for Nigerian women. She reassured the First Lady of the DSS’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Nigerians, stressing that a peaceful and secure environment is essential for the nation’s growth.
