The 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army on Tuesday decorated five of its officers with their new badges of rank, following their elevation from captain to major in the latest promotion exercise.
At a brief but colourful ceremony held at the Officers’ Mess, Owena Cantonment, Akure, the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Justin Ifeanyi performed the investiture and praised the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, for approving the promotions.

General Ifeanyi described the occasion as “historic”, urging the officers to “be models to their subordinates by remaining hardworking, loyal and steadfast in every assigned task”.
He reminded them that higher rank comes with greater responsibility and a duty to uphold the finest traditions of the Nigerian Army.
The newly decorated majors are T. S. Ogunlade, M. M. Gedu, E. O. Okakah, R. D. Yusuph and O. P. Okolie.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Major Toyin Ogunlade expressed gratitude to the COAS for the recognition and pledged to carry out their new duties “with renewed vigour and utmost professionalism”.
The event drew a cross-section of dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Olajide, the Vice-Chairman of Ondo West Local Government Area, Mr. Oluwole Bashiru, as well as family members, friends and well-wishers of the officers.
Major Njoka Irabor, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 32 Artillery Brigade, issued the statement announcing the ceremony.
