First Lady Oluremi Tinubu closes @65 Education Fund, raises N25.52bn for National Library Project

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has announced the closure of the Oluremi @65 Education Fund, revealing that a total of ₦25.52 billion was raised to support the construction of the National Library.

In a press statement she issued and personally signed on Wednesday, Mrs Tinubu expressed gratitude to Nigerians, friends and well-wishers who contributed to the fund, which was launched to mark her 65th birthday on September 21, 2025.

She said the overwhelming response to the initiative underscored a shared national commitment to education, knowledge preservation and sustainable development, adding that the goodwill and unity generated by the project were deeply encouraging.

According to the statement, the dedicated donation account for the Oluremi @65 Education Fund was officially closed on December 31, 2025.

The First Lady disclosed that the project would now be fully supervised by the Federal Ministry of Education, noting that any further support towards the National Library should be channelled through the ministry.

She confirmed that as of the date of closure, total donations stood at ₦25,520,708,074.35, describing the contributions as a significant boost to efforts aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s educational and intellectual infrastructure.

Mrs Tinubu thanked all contributors for supporting what she described as a worthy national cause and wished Nigerians and their families a peaceful and prosperous 2026.
