The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ondo State Council rejoices with Christians in the state especially journalists, on the occasion of this year’s Easter Celebration.
In a Press Statement signed by the State Chairman, Prince Leke Adegbite and the State Secretary, Comrade Olaoluwa Meshack, Ondo NUJ urges Christians to use Easter Celebration marking the end of the 40-day lenten season commemorating the 40 days Jesus Christ spent fasting in the desert and enduring temptation by Satan, to reflect on the ups and downs of life.
The Union also enjoins Christian brothers and sisters to learn from the love, humility and endurance displayed by Jesus Christ for the sake of mankind during his trial, humiliation and crucifixion.
The union emphasizes the need for Christians to use this Easter period to pray for peaceful Governorship election in Ondo State this year, while hardship and socio-economic situation in the country should not be forgotten as well.
NUJ also appeals to Christians to continue to pray for peace and economic prosperity of the state, stressing that “spirit of Easter reminds us that with faith and patience, we can overcome any obstacle.”
