The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the mother of the party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.
In a condolence message issued on behalf of the National Working Committee (NWC), party leaders, members and supporters across the country, Professor Yilwatda described the late matriarch as a woman whose life was marked by faith, dignity, sacrifice and unwavering devotion to her family.
The statement, signed by the National Chairman’s Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, extended the party’s heartfelt condolences to Senator Basiru, the entire Basiru family and the people of Osun State over the loss.
According to the APC National Chairman, although the death of a loved one is always painful, the family can find solace in the fact that the deceased lived a fulfilled life, raised exemplary children and left behind enduring values that continue to inspire those who knew her.
Professor Yilwatda also praised Senator Basiru for the exceptional love, care and commitment he showed his mother throughout her lifetime.
He noted that even during her illness, the National Secretary remained devoted to ensuring she received the best possible medical attention despite the enormous demands of his office and responsibilities within the ruling party.
The APC chairman said Senator Basiru’s devotion to his mother reflected the values of compassion, gratitude and family responsibility that Nigerians hold in high esteem.
He prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant her eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus, and comfort Senator Basiru, his siblings, children and the entire family during the period of mourning.
Professor Yilwatda further urged the National Secretary to draw strength from the remarkable legacy left behind by his late mother, describing it as one reflected in the integrity, discipline, humility and spirit of service that have become hallmarks of Basiru’s public life.
He expressed confidence that her memory would continue to inspire members of the family to uphold the noble virtues she exemplified.
“On behalf of our great party, I extend our deepest sympathies to our National Secretary and his family at this difficult moment. We share in your grief and pray that the Almighty grants Mama eternal rest and gives the family the courage to bear this loss. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement read.
The APC National Chairman reaffirmed the solidarity of the party with Senator Basiru and his family, praying that they would find comfort and strength during this period of bereavement.
