Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has launched a comprehensive project to provide clean water to 500,000 households, approximately 2 million individuals, across the state.
The project, which includes the construction and channelization of water supply systems, aims to improve hygiene, create job opportunities, and enhance sanitation.
During a stakeholders’ meeting in Akure on Tuesday, Governor Aiyedatiwa appealed for the support and cooperation of residents, security agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure the project’s success.
He emphasized that the initiative is not only about providing clean water but also about transforming the state.
In his welcome address, the Commissioner for Water Resources, Public Sanitation, and Hygiene, Mr. Sunday Akinwalire, commended the Governor’s commitment to addressing the long-standing issue of inadequate potable water supply.
The Technical Consultant, Mr. Kehinde Adebayo, outlined the project’s technical aspects, including the repair and revitalization of abandoned mechanical equipment, treatment plants, storage facilities, and pipelines.
In his contribution, the Chairman of the Grievance and Dispute Committee, Comrade Solomon Adelegan, assured the public that affected individuals and structures in the project areas have been reached out to, and efforts are being made to minimize disruptions.
This project is a significant step towards improving the quality of life for Ondo State residents, and the government is committed to making it a success.
