All markets and shops in Akure, the Ondo State capital are to remain shut on Tuesday, in observance of the annual Aheregbe Festival.
Announcement to this effect was made on Monday by the Palace of the Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi.
According to the press release signed by Adeyeye Michael, Chief Press Secretary to the Deji of Akure, “The closure is a traditional requirement for the festival, and residents, market women, and shop owners are urged to comply with the directive. However, pharmacy shops are exempted from the closure to ensure access to essential health services.”
It was revealed that the festival will not restrict human and vehicular movement, and normal activities will resume after the celebration.
