In anticipation of the Local Government Election scheduled for Saturday, the Ondo State Government has declared Friday, January 17, a work-free day for public servants.

This decision, announced by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, aims to enable public workers to travel to their respective communities and participate in the democratic process.

The declaration, issued on Thursday evening, reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that all eligible voters in the state are afforded the opportunity to exercise their civic responsibilities without hindrance.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has called on all stakeholders to play their part in fostering a free, fair, and peaceful election across Ondo State.

The work-free day underscores the state’s focus on encouraging active participation in grassroots democracy.

Public servants are encouraged to take advantage of the day to prepare for the election, reinforcing the government’s dedication to promoting civic engagement.

The election, organised by the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC), is expected to see the election of local government officials, a crucial element in the state’s governance structure.

The government has reassured citizens that necessary arrangements are in place to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process.
