Ondo State’s Social Democratic Party (SDP), on Thursday made a shocking allegation, claiming to have uncovered a plot by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to rig the upcoming governorship election through fake voter registers produced by a private printing press company.
According to SDP’s governorship candidate, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, popularly known as OBA, who made this known while addressing journalists in Akure, the printing of these documents was orchestrated by some of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s appointees, specifically Otunba Olugbenga and Dr. Collins Olagundoye.

Akingboye also alleged that APC has brought in election mercenaries, camping them in various locations across the state, with the sole intention of manipulating the Saturday’s election.
He claimed that these individuals are tampering with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) to ensure that votes for SDP are voided.

“We have information that some people are camped somewhere to work on BVAS such that if Voters press APC, It will accept but if you press for SDP, it will be voided,” he stated.
The SDP candidate has called on security agencies to investigate these allegations and prevent any electoral malpractice.
Otunba Akingboye while challenging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain an unbiased umpire in the coming election, said SDP would not accept the outcome of any election marred by irregularity of any kind.
His words: “When we met at the stakeholders’ meeting in Akure, I specifically told the INEC Chairman, the REC and security chiefs present that this election lies on their hands and that they should do the right thing. What I know about Ondo state is that we have good hearts but we don’t take nonsense, it is what we want that we want. So they should play their part, we want free and fair election, if it is free and fair, we will stand by it, but if it is not free and fair, we will not take it.”
He emphasized that SDP will not accept the outcome of any rigged election, stressing the importance of a free and fair electoral process.
Akingboye expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to democracy and the rule of law, hoping that this will ensure a credible election.
He also highlighted the growing number of APC youths joining SDP, attributing this to his track record and the party’s manifesto.
The SDP governorship candidate urged Ondo State residents to reject money bag politicians and vote for SDP, which he believes has the potential to transform the state into a commercial hub by leveraging its natural resources, agriculture, and entrepreneurship.
