INEC Chairman assures smooth conduct of Ondo guber election

Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has assured voters in Ondo State of a seamless governorship election on November 16.

While speaking to reporters in Akure, the state capital on Monday, Yakubu emphasised that valuable lessons were learned from previous elections, particularly in Edo State.

Yakubu identified two key challenges that INEC is working to address: logistics and result management.

He stressed the importance of ensuring that polling units open promptly on election day, as well as the need for effective result management.

The Ondo State governorship election is scheduled to take place on November 16, 2024, and INEC has been preparing for the election by publishing the particulars of nominated candidates from 17 political parties.

The commission has also released the final list of candidates for the election.

 

Election Preparations

 

– Candidate Nomination: 17 political parties have uploaded their candidates’ nomination forms for the Ondo State Governorship Election.

– Final List of Candidates: INEC has released the final list of candidates for the election.

– Logistics and Result Management: INEC is working to address challenges related to logistics and result management to ensure a smooth election.

 

With these preparations in place, INEC aims to conduct a free and fair election in Ondo State.
