Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has emphasized the need for peace and unity in Nigeria, urging the military and other security services to intensify their efforts in maintaining national stability.
He made this call during a meeting with the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Obinna Onubogu, in Osogbo, on Thursday.
Governor Adeleke commended the Nigerian Army for its respect for democratic institutions and stressed the importance of loyalty in ensuring national stability.
He noted that collaboration between the political class and security sector is crucial in providing adequate protection for citizens, especially during times of anxiety and uncertainty.
The Governor assured the visiting military delegation that his government has taken necessary precautions to ensure peace and tranquility in Osun State, despite planned nationwide demonstrations.
He expressed his commitment to sustaining peace and stability in the state.
Major General Onubogu, in his address, highlighted the critical role of the military in maintaining peace during turbulent times.
He commended Governor Adeleke’s efforts in ensuring Osun State remains peaceful and reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty and ensuring citizens’ safety.
The meeting underscored the importance of partnership between the Nigerian Army and Osun State government in maintaining peace and stability, serving as a model for other states in the federation.
