Two die in Ondo community after taking herbal concoction

The Ondo State Police Command is investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of two persons in Isua Akoko, Akoko South East local government area of the state, on Monday.

The deceased persons, Ojulewa Alex and Alonge Samuel were said to have died after drinking a herbal concoction known as ‘agbo’, during an age group festival in their hometown, Isua Akoko.

The Nigerian Monitor gathered that people in the community believed that the sudden demise of the two men was not unconnected with the concoction they drank during the festival.

It was revealed that the middle aged man who travelled down from Abuja for the festival and prepared the concoction, died shortly after drinking it.

The incident was confirmed by the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya.

She said the victims died on their way to the hospital after vomiting.

Odunlami-Omisanya added that the other person who drank the herbal concoction with the duo is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

According to her: “A chief came and reported at Isua police station that one Mr Ojulewa prepared a native concoction (Agbo) which he drank with two others and thereafter the trio started vomiting.

“While on their way to the hospital, the duo of Ojulewa Alex and Alonge Samuel gave up the ghost while Adu Johnson is in coma and receiving medical treatment. Investigation is on going.”
