Breaking News: Ondo PDP appoints Tola Alabere Acting State Chairman

The State Executive Council (SEC), of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State on Thursday, announced Mr Tola Alabere, as the Acting State Chairman of the party.

The party disclosed this in a press conference after an emergency meeting at the party’s secretariat in Akure.

This development came after the embattled Chairman of the Party, Mr Fatai Adams was suspended two days ago.

According to the suspension letter signed by nine out of the 11 executive members of the party at the State level, Mr Adams was suspended over alleged anti-party activities.

Meanwhile, the National Secretariat of the party in a swift reaction, dismissed the purported suspension of Adams, saying it was an exercise in futility.

Speaking on behalf of the party, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Debo Ologunagba, said the National Working Committee (NWC), had dismissed the suspension, noting that the State Working Committee lacked the authority to suspend the chairman without recourse to the national body

However, after approving Mr Adams’ suspension on Thursday, the SEC of the party took a decision to fill the party chairman’s position, and subsequently appointed the State Vice Chairman, Mr Tola Alabere, to take over the affairs of the party as Acting State Chairman.

Addressing newsmen, the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Kennedy Peretei, said the decision to appoint Alabere followed the due process and was in line with the party’s constitution.
