President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will address the nation on Friday as part of activities marking the 2026 Democracy Day celebration.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, the nationwide broadcast is scheduled for 7:00 a.m. and will be transmitted live on the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Radio Nigeria.

The Presidency said all television and radio stations across the country have been requested to hook into the NTA and Radio Nigeria network to ensure wide coverage of the President’s address.

The Democracy Day broadcast is expected to form part of the Federal Government’s activities commemorating June 12, a date recognised as a watershed in Nigeria’s democratic journey and observed annually as Democracy Day.

President Tinubu is expected to reflect on the state of the nation, the progress of democratic governance and the administration’s efforts towards national development during the address.

Democracy Day is celebrated in honour of the struggle for democratic rule in Nigeria and serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by many Nigerians in the quest for democratic governance.

The national broadcast comes amid commemorative activities organised by the Federal Government to mark the 2026 Democracy Day celebration across the country.
