RUGIPO student found dead in Owo, police launch investigation

A 20-year-old student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, identified as Audi Emmanuel, has been found dead in what police describe as a suspected suicide incident in Owo, Ondo State.

The deceased, a Computer Engineering student, was reportedly discovered in his residence along Awolowo Road in Emure-Ile, near the Amotekun office, under circumstances that have left residents shocked.

Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred within the residential area, prompting concern among neighbours and passersby.

Confirming the development, the Ondo State Police Command said it received a report of the incident and immediately deployed officers to the scene.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, the body of the student was recovered and deposited at a morgue for preservation and autopsy.

He stated that preliminary observations point to a suspected case of suicide, adding that a full investigation has commenced to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the death.

The command expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and urged members of the public to seek support during periods of emotional distress.
