Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for New York to represent Nigeria at the 79th United Nations General Assembly, following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive ¹. This decision allows President Tinubu to focus on pressing domestic issues, particularly the recent devastating flood disaster.
During the assembly, Vice President Shettima will deliver Nigeria’s national statement and engage in key meetings and bilateral discussions. The high-level General Debate, themed “Leaving no one behind: Acting Together for the Advancement of Peace, Sustainable Development and Human Dignity for Present and Future Generations,” will take place from September 24 to 28, 2024.
As the leader of the Nigerian delegation, Vice President Shettima’s participation in the UNGA highlights Nigeria’s commitment to global cooperation and sustainable development.
