The Osun State Government has invested ₦2 billion in 267 micro projects across the state, focusing on rural development and basic amenities.

The projects aim to improve the lives of physically challenged individuals, including those with disabilities, widows, and the poor.

Mrs. Funmi Abokede, General Manager of the Osun State Community and Social Development Agency, disclosed this during a two-day media engagement in Osogbo, the state capital.

She highlighted the state government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups, particularly those with disabilities.

The projects include facilities to alleviate challenges faced by persons with disabilities, such as water, education, healthcare, and sanitation.

She disclosed that the state government has also established a center for people with disabilities, showcasing their skills and abilities in various trades.

Abokede emphasized the importance of maintenance culture and sustainability to ensure the projects’ longevity and benefit to the communities.

She praised Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration for its support, stating that no previous government had provided similar backing.

The GM further stated that the agency’s mission is to care for the poor and those in need, providing basic amenities and ensuring government presence in grassroots communities.

Abokede called for increased funding to execute more micro projects in rural areas and urged journalists to educate communities on project maintenance and sustainability.
