Tension is at a boiling point in Ondo State following two separate but harrowing incidents that have left four individuals dead and entire communities in mourning.
In the Tafa area of Ajagbusi, along the Igbatoro road in Akure North Local Government Area, grief-stricken farmers and youths took to the streets in protest after three local farmers were reportedly killed by suspected herdsmen.
The demonstrators, carrying green leaves as a symbol of sorrow and peace, brought the corpses of the victims to the protest site and blocked the road leading to the Governor’s Office, disrupting traffic and demanding swift government intervention.
The emotionally charged crowd urged authorities to fish out the killers and prevent further bloodshed, stating that the attack has plunged the entire community into mourning.
Their cries reflect a growing frustration over the government’s perceived inaction in the face of recurring violence.
In a separate but equally disturbing incident, the Ondo State Police Command confirmed the brutal murder of a hotelier, Mr Adesoji Adeleye, at his establishment in the Arakale area of Akure.
DSP Ayanlade Olushola, the Police Public Relations Officer, revealed that the businessman was found dead after being repeatedly stabbed by assailants believed to be assassins.
He disclosed that according to initial reports, Adeleye was asleep in one of the hotel rooms when the attackers struck, overpowering him and leaving him in a pool of blood.
Police investigations have since been launched, with the case now transferred to the state’s criminal investigation department for discreet and thorough examination.
Authorities have assured the public that every effort is being made to bring the perpetrators to justice.
